When Overeating Isn't The Problem

We spend a lot of time overeating. We eat too much sugar, we eat too much salt, and we eat too much saturated fat. But, in general, Americans also under eat.

A recent study released by the Center for Science in the Public Interest concluded that most Americans fall drastically short of several key nutrients – potassium, magnesium, vitamin D, and vitamin B-12. These all play an important role in managing blood pressure, diabetes, and osteoporosis. In some cases, only food (not pills) can make up the shortfall. In other cases, supplements are the best way to ensure maximum nutrient absorption. The next four blog posts will touch on each of these nutrients separately and discuss their role within a healthy diet.
